I recently watched Happy Feet because my nephews stayed over and I didn't feel like watching the Buckeyes lose to Florida again. After watching it I was going to write about the shitty storyline, but I watched the end again because my nephews fell asleep and they always get their way when it comes to watching tv. Anyway, as I watched the second half of the movie again I realized something, not only was the storyline terrible, it was based on a ghetto.
I will start with the terrible storyline and get into how the movie is about a ghetto. The story goes like this: All penguins sing (because their black) but one penguin was dropped while in the egg so he dances instead of sings. The penguin group makes him an outcast. Their food supply of fish is running low so the outcast dancing penguin tries to find the aliens (which are humans) and get them to stop catching all of the fish. He chases a boat, ends up on a beach and gets taken into captivity. He tries to talk to the humans, but they don't understand penguin (we don't call what we speak human, dumbass animals).
Anyway the humans don't help him and after several months the dancing penguin loses his mind. He then starts dancing and the humans get all excited over the dancing penguin and some get on their cell phones (probably to call a big corporation so they can make money). Next thing we know the dancing penguin is back with the big group of penguins. Wait, why did the humans release him, and how did he get back to the group? Next he convinces the group that they should dance and they do, except the old cranky penguins who probably haven't gotten any in a while. They dance, then the humans find them because the dancing penguin had a tracking device. They decide to help the penguins because they all start dancing. People stop catching fish and the penguins live happily ever after (I guess that is what happens since the movie just sort of ends).
Now I know you are thinking, but what makes the movie about the ghetto. Well first the penguins are black. I know this because every penguin can dance even though they never danced before. Secondly, the only songs they sing during the movie are early rap, r&b, and blues songs. One penguin sings Elvis, but we all know Elvis based his style on black music. The old cranky penguin is the old black men that hang outside giving advice to the young black youth, while at the same time thinking they play their music too loud and don't understand life. Next comes the part where the people want to save the penguins. One of the first people we see is a cranky old bitch who thinks that the penguins shouldn't be saved (Hillary Clinton?). Sounds like living in the ghetto to me.
